Atalaya
Atalaya Golf and Country Club was the venue selected for the first event of the New Year on the
Gecko Pro Tour Schedule for 2014/15. Located on the outskirts of Estepona, this elegant and mature
golf course offers the players spectacular views of the La Concha Mountain while walking the
distinctive wide, gentle sloping parkland fairways.
Sparkling white ‘marmolina’ sand bunkers and swan filled lakes protect the large elevated greens,
while old established eucalyptus and pine trees sit comfortably along the fairways. Atalaya Old
championship course was created in 1968 by Bernard von Limburger, Germany’s finest golf course
architect of the time and sits comfortably in its surroundings unspoiled by the developments of the
Costa Del Sol.
Over the years Atalaya has developed into one of the homeliest clubs on the costa. Members fill the
log fire heated library or the restaurant terrace that overlooks the pine tree encircled putting area
and the 18th green.
Rio Real
Rio Real being a golf course intersected by the main road traveling through Marbella, the upmarket
Spanish playground for the rich and famous. The course was built in 1965 along the banks of the
River Real right up to the point it reaches the Azure blue of the Mediterranean Sea and is rated by
The Royal Spanish golf Federation as a prestigious golf course and one of the best in Spain. Course
Designer Javier Arana took great attention when creating this gem of a golf course and with lakes
surrounded by a botanical garden array of trees the course was a perfect introduction to our foreign
players into the world of luxury golf in Spain.
